Fix char offset sometimes returning 0 when non-zero offset 3b42cf8590

This happened when the desired line was just an empty line with
linebreak.

A lot of stuff 82cb28ae34

I currently don't have the energy to split all of this

Essentially this huge commit:
- replaces the preview with a virtual dom diffing renderer
- fixes some pesky position bugs
- packages prowl as nix packages and adds the proper dependency
  tracking etc
